It's a Girl for Princess Alexia of Greece

Princess Alexia of Greece and her husband, Carlos Morales Quintana, welcomed their fourth child October 26. It's another girl, this time named Amelia Morales y de Grecia.

What does the name mean? Haven't we done this before ... recently? Yep ... Amelia is still gaining in popularity, worldwide. It is derived from Amalia, which means "work." We wonder: After three daughters and one son, the names for the girls begin with A and the boy's name is C. Is this after the parents? Will it continue?

It's a Girl for Ron McGehee

Ron McGehee, finalist in the show Last Coming Standing 2, and his wife, Kerri Pomarolli, welcomed their first child October 23rd. A little girl, the couple named their daughter Lucy Madilynn.

What does the name mean? Both names are increasingly popular and we have to say, it's a shame about the spelling of Madilynn. Please, save yourselves a bit of dignity and tell us it's a combination of two important family members? Please?

At any rate, Lucy is derived from Lucius, which means "light" and Madeleine, the name from which we assume Madilynn is derived, is itself from the name Magdalene, which means "of Magdala." So ... she's the light of Magdala? We doubt the parents put all too much thought into the meanings of these names.

What does the name mean? Amelia, growing rapidly in popularity in the United States, is a variant of the German name Amalia, which means "work." We wonder: what was momma thinking about when choosing this name? And what is little Amelia's middle name?

It's a Boy for Anthony Kiedis

Anthony Kiedis, frontman for the band Red Hot Chili Peppers, and his girlfriend, model Heather Christie, welcomed a son October 2. In a move that has left the baby name industry spinning, they decided to name their child Everly Bear.

Rather than launch into what we think of the name, let's hear from Anthony:

We had a long list of names, but suppose it came to me by way of the Everly
Brothers, which is one of my favorite bands. And sometimes last names make good first names.

And why Bear?

The mama came up with Bear. That made sense to me because he's from me and I
feel like I'm part of the bear clan, and I think it's nice to have a little bit
of earth in your name.

Well ... isn't that lovely. We just hope the next child isn't named Turner Kitten. Perhaps Jackson Cougar? What do you think?

It's a Boy for Brett Scallions

Brett Scallions, former lead singer of Fuel, and his wife, Abby Gennet, have welcomed their first child together. In true rocker style, the couple named the boy Jagger Song.

What does the name mean? Jagger, which we can only assume was chosen after Mick Jagger, is a made-up name with no real meaning. Song is ... well, it's a word and I'm sure you can guess what it means. We wonder: WHY?!

Nick Schultz, NHL player on the Minnesota Wild team, and his wife Jessice welcomed their first child on October 9. Born at 12:11 am, the couple had a son who they named Jake Douglas.

What does the name mean? Jake, a very common nickname for the #1 boy name in the country, means "supplanter." Douglas, a name that doesn't see much light these days, means "dark river." We wonder: Paired with such a popular first name, is Douglas a family name?

It's a Girl for Emerson Hart

Emerson Hart, formerly of the band Tonic, and his wife Nicole, welcomed their first child on October 4th. A daughter was born weighing 7lbs 11 oz and they named her Lucienne Elizabeth.

What does the name mean? Lucienne is a feminine form of the French name Lucien, which originally came from the Latin word "lux" meaning "light." Elizabeth, a very common middle name these days, means "my God is abundant." An interesting combination for this little girl. We wonder: Is Elizabeth a family name?
