Salma Hayek welcomes first child: daughter

It's a girl for Salma Hayek and her husband, François Henri Pinault. Salma gave birth on Thursday to a baby girl and, although details are few, we know she was named Valentina Paloma Pinault.

According to US Magazine, Hayek has had the baby's name picked out since she was six months pregnant. 'She told everyone she loved Valentina because it is strong and romantic.'"

What does the little one's name mean? Valentina comes from the Latin valens which means "strong and healthy." Paloma, a very Spanish name, means either "dove" or "pigeon." We think she chose a wonderful name which is exactly what the mother was aiming for: strong and romantic. Congratulations, Salma.
